Serving women who have, or have had, any type of cancer
The mission of Hope on the rise is to provide women cancer survivors an opportunity to join other women in learning to fly fish, while finding hope and healing in a safe, natural environment.
Hope on the Rise (HOTR) is a non-profit organization offering free weekend fly fishing retreats to women at any state, and with any type of cancer.
HOTR was started in 2012 by a group of women who were passionate about sharing their love of fly fishing and their hope for healing with women whose lives had been impacted by a diagnosis of cancer. We currently offer two retreats annually. Our summer retreat is generally held in June at Tall Timber Lodge in Pittsburg, NH. In the Fall, HOTR offers a retreat at the Lake Mansfield Trout Club in Stowe, VT.
Retreats are facilitated by a team of women volunteers, including fly fishing instructors, medical and psycho-social professionals, and retreat coordinators. On Sundays, an additional team of volunteers, including men, join the group to provide one-on-one fly fishing on a nearby river or stream.
Hope on the Rise retreats take place from late Friday afternoon through late Sunday afternoon. The cost of all meals and lodging are covered as part of the retreat. HOTR also provides the use of all fly fishing equipment and supplies needed for the weekend.
Retreats are supported by grant funding, corporate contributions, and individual donations. HOTR is organized and managed entirely by a team of volunteers.
Hope on the Rise is a tax-exempt organization under the 501(c)(3) section of the IRS.
